I've got to agree with JD a little in regards to Taxi. I'm sure they have helped many get in the door. Mostly I don't feel their critiques were that good when I was a member, and when I search their opportunities as of late, I find oddly very similar opportunities on places like Youlicense and Sonicbids. And to be very honest, $300 a year is a lot of money to be finding those opportunities elsewhere.

As an instrumentalist writer, I have had luck with Pump Audio, but mostly with material I sent them before they were bought by Getty Images. Now Pump is very slow to in terms of entering my new music to their catalog.

There are endless sites popping up all the time as well, so I really don't know where this business goes from here. Time will tell.

Theres a guy on here that asked another guy what his beef is with TAXI.

Ive got to say this. Ill feel responsible if I do not say anything.

TAXI's (Michael L.) has one business model and that is to capitalize on

the hopes and dreams of everyday people. People dont join TAXI and pay

the stupid fees to sell some Binky the Clown music to channel 337. 99%

of people join TAXI because they advertise themselves as an A&R company

who will get your music to the record labels. I had a ridiculous

experience with TAXI and after a few emails I got a phone call from the

CEO. Basically, he was scared I was going to sue him. I figured their

game really quick into it. Michael (the CEO) told me over the phone that

labels do not take TAXI submissions because they just feel its a waste of

their time. I wish I had recorded the conversation. There would be no

TAXI today if i had. Stay away from TAXI. Theyll just take your money &

give you odd critiques of whatever you send in to make sure you keep em

coming. Well, thats my good deed for the day.

Best wishes,

Thank you for sharing this very positive, and informative information.
Although I've had some great success licensing my music, while helping others to do the same, it's refreshing to find someone who is truly knowledgeable on this subject. Thanks again, and good luck with your music licensing ventures.

BEST WISHES,
Charlie Mac

I hear alot of public domain music on media productions. Is there anyway to make money recording public domain material and selling it via libraries? If not, why does anyone the record public domain music that is heard so much?

Also, can someone give me some ligit Licenseing company to get my music licensed, everybody seems to ripping everybody off, this economy has made people be so dishonest with each other on a different level. Lol.

Hey, I was wonderful if you could help me with this as you are most likely member of a PRO. If I were to enter an agreement with PRS for music the agreement states that I would (transfer to the Society the ownership of your(my) performing and film synchronisation rights). I am sure all PRO's act in the same fashion, however, that does not sound like a good thing to me......what does that mean?
